How to buy a new cell phone?

buying a cell phone can be searching for a needle in a haystack if you dont have anything specific in mind. you better start by answering some very specific questions about yourself - what you will buy will show what you have inside. and i bet you dont want to buy something you cant show off cause you are least interested in knowing its working.

1. What do you prefer?
a. complexity
b. simplicity

2. are you a techno geek (in which case you dont need to read this blog) or are you a common man with lots of common sense but no sense of tech?

3. do you want the phone for flaunting or using?

4. have you worked on smartphones before?

if you have answered them correctly, you are very close to knowing what is it that you really want.

now let me describe some operating system terms for your ease which people are talking about these days:

Android Phone: it is any phone which uses android OS developed by Google.

Android 2.1 - Froyo operating system
Android 2.2 - Gingerbread operating system
Android 3 - honeycomb operating system - (used only in tablets now)
Android 4 - IceCream Sandwhich - latest version of Android OS

these operating system are deemed the most versatile and usable, and easy to understand. but if you have jumped directly from Nokia 1100 or E73 to the modern world, this may still be a farfetched idea as Android systems are well known for their flexibility and undeterred confusionism. And unless you were born after 1985, think about our next option, BADA OS.

Samsung BADA - it is any phone using the BADA OS. most of Samsung low end phones use Bada - the wave series mainly.

Advantages of BADA over Android:
1. it is super simple with low functionality and not much options
2. it is still a smartphone in disguise of an ordinary phone
3. the graphics in Wave 2 and Wave 3 are really nice and the flow is smooth
4. due to untweakability, the OS is mostly fluid and without glitches
5. very handy and usable mixture of speed and utility

Disadvantages of BADA:
1. Market very limited
2. Not many apps are developed
3  no custom roms. stock roms are applied and reapplied endlessly.
4. No flexibility
5. No live wall-papers - (except for a new 'something' in Wave 3)

this was a basic explanation and a brief overview of two of the leading OSs.

now let me give you a direct option to choose from, based on  technical status, flexibility related to custom ROMs and complexity.
