Virtual DJ

awesome and the best software for DJs out there

live mixing, awesome list of effects, multiple skin, powerful mixing options...

enough?

so, while the software is decent enough, reports are coming in from all over the globe that the software is relatively new to the newbie and hard to understand first, unless the newbie tries out the sampler and effects list and uses the F1-F12 keys for successful mixing without a playing song.

recording your work is a little typical since programming is not allowed as much as FL Studio, but what else can you expect from a simple mixing engine? nothing more!!

other than the mixing flaw, the software works great and does what it says... Ultra Mix...!!!

4 stars to the software for being user-friendly, and 7 stars for actual live performances... thanks to the sampler, triple cue in basic themes, siren sample, modd-able wave display, TURN TABLES ;)

all in all a great software to keep handy :)

enjoy!!

Android in Samsung Wave

this is one of the best technical symbiosis relations i can think about. Samsung wave running Android!!

with its SUPER-AMOLED screen and top end processing for data and graphics, the Wave definitely deserved Android. BADA in that kind of power packed machine is a bit injustice to the users and the machine itself.

i wont go in the techinical stuff, that you can get at GSMArena or other such techWebs. what i would like to be made clear is that WaveI and Wave II, two of the most brilliant phones in the cellular market, deserve Android much more than any other mid range gadget running on 1 GHz processor with such a brilliant screen. it would have been a rage among phone users if this gadget ran at least Froyo if not Gingerbread.

there are people updating the device and installing illegal tweaks to run the phone on Android. here is one such provider:

http://techie-buzz.com/mobile-news/samsung-wave-now-runs-android-2-2-froyo.html

also here is a firmware download link in case you want to try your luck with the android in your own BADA ridden phone, and join the 'f*** the warrenty' bandwagon: ;)

Galaxy Ace GT-s5830 issues with ROM

Difference in rom install procedure:

i have seen few people getting phone bricks due to not knowing this special procedure and/or not following it really.

Theory:

in layman language, the Ace requires the system, data, cache and sd-ext to be started during the CWM install.

all the above have to be formatted to contain the new system precisely without any conflicts.

just mind the difference between sd-ext and sd-card. many people mistake that a lot of times.

also, you have to mount the data again from mount and unmount/mount data

concurrently, there are patches with every custom rom you install as the Ace project has been manhandled a lot and not taken as seriously as its previous counterparts.

get the roms and reviews from somewhere else...

we celebrate the difference and destinies here at TechFestMagna

How to buy a new cell phone?

buying a cell phone can be searching for a needle in a haystack if you dont have anything specific in mind. you better start by answering some very specific questions about yourself - what you will buy will show what you have inside. and i bet you dont want to buy something you cant show off cause you are least interested in knowing its working.

1. What do you prefer?
a. complexity
b. simplicity

2. are you a techno geek (in which case you dont need to read this blog) or are you a common man with lots of common sense but no sense of tech?

3. do you want the phone for flaunting or using?

4. have you worked on smartphones before?

if you have answered them correctly, you are very close to knowing what is it that you really want.

now let me describe some operating system terms for your ease which people are talking about these days:

Android Phone: it is any phone which uses android OS developed by Google.

Android 2.1 - Froyo operating system
Android 2.2 - Gingerbread operating system
Android 3 - honeycomb operating system - (used only in tablets now)
Android 4 - IceCream Sandwhich - latest version of Android OS

these operating system are deemed the most versatile and usable, and easy to understand. but if you have jumped directly from Nokia 1100 or E73 to the modern world, this may still be a farfetched idea as Android systems are well known for their flexibility and undeterred confusionism. And unless you were born after 1985, think about our next option, BADA OS.

Samsung BADA - it is any phone using the BADA OS. most of Samsung low end phones use Bada - the wave series mainly.

Advantages of BADA over Android:
1. it is super simple with low functionality and not much options
2. it is still a smartphone in disguise of an ordinary phone
3. the graphics in Wave 2 and Wave 3 are really nice and the flow is smooth
4. due to untweakability, the OS is mostly fluid and without glitches
5. very handy and usable mixture of speed and utility

Disadvantages of BADA:
1. Market very limited
2. Not many apps are developed
3  no custom roms. stock roms are applied and reapplied endlessly.
4. No flexibility
5. No live wall-papers - (except for a new 'something' in Wave 3)

this was a basic explanation and a brief overview of two of the leading OSs.

now let me give you a direct option to choose from, based on  technical status, flexibility related to custom ROMs and complexity.

Name: HTC Desire HD

Technical Status:High
Flexibility: High
Complexity: Normal

Name: LG Optimus One
Technical Status: Medium
Flexibility: Medium

Complexity: Normal

Name: Galaxy S3
Technical Status:High
Flexibility: -

Complexity: Normal

Name: Droid X
Technical Status:High
Flexibility: High

Complexity:Normal

More cell phones coming gradually.

ICS Custom Rom - Virtuous Quattro RC3

I have had my hands on many customs. But this was the smoothest of them all.

Even being a ported ICS did not deter this beast from being the best among its league, bypassing ice cold sandwhich and CM9, at the time of posting

Best 3:

super smooth launcher
Quattro Control
Over clocking up to a little more than 1.9 GHz

In short, I loved flashing this rom on my mate's HTC Desire

The only problem is the camera, which does not work due to driver incompatibility as official rom is being awaited for

But in short, it is way ahead of its league

Way to go Quattro!

No signal on Samsung Galaxy S i9000

Many users are facing problems on Galaxy S with signal, as they install CM7 but never know why the device does not get signal/connectivity.

This usually happens in devices where the preinstalled Android version (Froyo/Gingerbread/etc.) do not have compatible Basebands. in such cases, the baseband needs to be flashed manually for the Device to receive signal.

SOLUTION:

here are steps for flashing the correct Baseband for your Galaxy S:

Cyanogenmod 7 on Gingerbread 2.3.3

Prior knowledge of Odin needed.
If you flashed CM7 over Gingerbread and you don't get any signal(can't make calls) it's an issue with your baseband. You need to flash in the correct modem. Since you were using Gingerbread, note down your baseband, before you flash in CM7. Mine was DDJV4.

You will find most firmwares at www.sammobile.com

- Flash CM7 with CWM(clockworkmod)

Now for the baseband, you need version DDJV6, which can be found in the firmware pachkage link given below:

- Fire up Odin

- Uncheck Re Partition

- Keep Auto Reboot on

- Put in the modem file(The one with PC) into the PC field of Odin

- Let Odin do the work

- Phone would reboot

- Use CM7
