this is a huge problem on any Cyanogen user's cellphone on upgrading from Gingerbread to Cyanogen.
typically this is due to a baseband incompatibility. and is very, very prominint in every Android being upgraded from Gingerbread to Cyanogen 7.x
i had faced a similar problem. when i installed my CM 7.1 there was a momentary flash of signal, followed by zero signal - and it was damn frustrating.
How to get signal:
For mod 7.x to work, the ROM needs the Froyo baseband installed on the device. this works fine with most models getting upgraded from Froyo ( baseband v10E-b). you can check your baseband version from the About Phone option in Settings menu. (Settings-> About Phone).
so in order to have signal, you need to downgrade your baseband in Gingerbread and install v10E-b on the device.
First install the mod and check if you get signal before trying the following procedure.
How to:
1. Install Cyanogen 7.x (desired CM rom)
2. Get your Device baseband driver (mine was P500-v10E-baseband) downloaded on the PC
3. Put your cell in Debug mode
4. Execute the downloaded driver burner on the PC and click Select port, and choose your cell.
5. Select the folder itself as the image directory
6. Ignore all the warnings it might give and continue, clicking OK all the time till no more warning appear (about 3 warnings appear, but not sure for specific models)
7. Click Download and let whatever happens, happen.
your cell will be restarted two times. do not touch the cable, wire, PC, phone - till Download Complete message appears and the phone reboots with full signal strength.

ReplyDeletedid you try doing it with v10e. and instead get CM7.2 with baseband v20e. that is much better. if you ignore the camera glitches.
